Test week at the airport Schönhagen

A whole week of testing for the project partners in the research project ALADIN at the airport Schönhagen (EDAZ) southwest of Berlin. Single components as well as the interfaces and functionality between the different contributions were checked. So the reach of the 5G network in general and the imaging were tested.

With our crawler we have checked the fire figthing components and seen that the monitor on the 9 Meter tower has a reach of around 70 Meters!

Big support was given by the fire brigade of the city of Trebbin with their wildfire fighting truck by suppliying water and usage of the onboard pump.

Around the corner…

Once again a prefab house that would not go around the corner on its trailer. In the midth of a village the truck/trailer combinations were supposed to go around a sharp corner itno a tight road. The small mobile crane did make it, as it was equipped with allwheel-steering. For the trucks it would have been impossible!

As the drivers have already done jobs like this together with us, so everything went smooth and quickly. Power unit and compressor onto the trailer for brake air supply, 24 Volt Nato cable for the hydraulic pump of the trailer steering and power supply for the radio control of the rear axles of the trailer – and the convoy started. As a school bus passes through the small main road, the traffic was supposed to be stopped for only the shortest time!

Backing up into the middle of the road and than the crawler pulls up to the rear corner. Now one of the most important capabilities of the crawler was applied! Turning on the spot (expertly expressed: “turning around the vertical axis”) so the given space was used most efficiently. The crawler moves along the building’s wall. At the same time the front wall of the trailer must be monitored, to not damage any drainspout or else. Simultaniously the trailer axles are steered to pass the other corner as tight as possible. On the way back from the building site the same procedure has to be carried out the other way around.

The use of the CT25 crawler with its fully cardanic fifth wheel once again rendered possible the erection of a prefab house in a location that otherwise would not have been reachable!

At this position the crawler was exchanged against the trucks again

Wipfelfeuer (Tree top fire) in Ludwigslust/Germany

Today the symposium “Wipfelfeuer” (Tree Top fire) of the organization @fire starts in Ludwigslust/Germany. 200 attendants and 18 exhibitioners take part in the largest event so far.  http://www.wipfelfeuer.com/

ATG takes part with two vehicles

We have with us the Prinoth Panther T12 that carries a test structure as fire engine. The crawler has two tanks with 7,500 Liters all in all. Besides that there are two hose reels and a fire brigade pump. This is the first variant that we present to the public. The Panther is able to carry even more payload with a max of 11.5 tons. The wide rubber tracks spread the weight and make a low ground pressure. The driving gear with two bogey axles enables the tracked carrier to a high cross country ability. Max speed is 13 Km/h. Typically the fire crawler is transported to the site on a semi-trailer. The width of 2.65 meters makes that quite easy.

In the future we will built the tank with a very low center of gravity, volume around 8,000 liters. Additionally there will be a separate 400 Liter tank for the self-protection system. The water will be pumped electrically to make sure that even with a stalled engine the hazard could be mastered.

One of the reels will be a high pressure system to break up and extinguish roots and other hard material. That will be helpful during mop up.

The second vehicle is the Multi Loader. It is a radio controlled crawler transporter with a payload of 2.5 tons! The specialty is the bidirectional self-adjusting platform! This holds the load even at all times and keeps a very good center of gravity!

A very usable vehicle for structures and bodywork to be fixed on top. Here there could be fire fighting equipment, huge hose reels or rescue equipment attached to the tracked transporter. By means of the radio control and the long duration of the batteries it is ideal for dangerous or ammunition contaminated areas!

Putting out fire!

Concept for crawler fire engines and support vehicles

ATG has started a collaboration with a variety of firefighter specialists in three different areas.

Fire crawlers

ATG Across The Ground Wipfelfeuer 2019 Prinoth Panther Feuer löschen

We have struck up an agreement with company Prinoth, a wellknown manufacturer of snow groomers and tracked dumpers. The production range of the crawlers, under the name of Panther, has some progressive technical features, that have made the decision easy. In the coming future we will develop and build bodywork for fire fighting as well as flood rescue that will be fixed on the Panthers. Here we are talking about a payload (for example water) of up to 16 tons. The wide tracks make a low ground pressure and the vehicles are very capable going cross country. They will be offered as rental machines as well as newbuilt to customer specifications.

Multi-Loader

We have started a cooperation with company Ommelift of Langenhagen for the sale of the radiocontrolled transport crawler Multi Loader, with a payload of 2.5 tons. The special feature on this vehicle is the bidirectional self-levelling platform!

For this impressive machine we have developed some interesting structures that will find attention in the fire fighting community. It is an economic solution for dangerous or ammunition contaminated areas. With a hose reel system higher operating range is possible.

8×8 trucks with high cross country ability with 10,000 Liter tank

In collaboration with a wildfire specialist we have developed a concept where we keep in stock some special trucks that may be rented out on short notice. They are derived from the military. Trucks with tanks of up to 10,000 litres or hooklift systems, with German license and equipped to fire brigade standards. These are to rent and we have a modular system of allocation and supply of experienced drivers.

Provision, allocation, rent, buy

In case you are interested in these vehicles or the rental concept we kindly ask you to get in contact with us. As there is a wide variety of options personal advice is important. We are happy to work out a profile of requirements and a custom made solution with you.

We are looking forward to our discussion.

Visit at the Kübler Schwerlastzentrum Mannheim

The wellknown heavy load forwarding company Kübler opened up its heavy load center in Mannheim harbor with an open house party on Saturday the 21st of Oct. 2019.

http://www.kuebler-spedition.de/schwergutzentrum-mannheim/

Naturally we have paid a visit to our partner for machinery transports. The crew from Kübler & Setzer in Kreuztal were present as well and we have had a look at large variety of trucks and technical solutions. Very impressing is the new warehouse with several overhead cranes, the strongest able to carry 500to!

Impressing just as well is the mobile harbor crane!

Spectacular recovery of a vintage coach!

Mercedes-Benz freed from the woods after 50 years

We have rescued a Mercedes-Benz bus, built 1951, type O 3500 with Kässbohrer coachwork. Tino Ertel and Thomas Turnwald of the Bavarian Pickers have discovered the vehicle and organized the mission. As it has a length of 8.5 meters and as it was concealed in a more or less inaccessable piece of forest in Northern Bavaria, they have called on ATG ACROSS THE GROUND.

We have developed a light but sturdy lift gantry and with its help we have freed the bus from its bed in the forest. We than moved our radio controlled transport crawler underneath, tight it down safely and drove out of the impenetrabel countryside. For the final leg on a low loader the 5to coach was transshipped on the first truck accessible road. The whole operation was done in two days in the mid of September 2018.

During the recovery not only the bus was treated with care but the enviromentas well. Here the crawler was of the utmost advantage due to its very low ground pressure. Besides that only two trees, that grew next and through the bus, had to be felled.

As this is the first official operation of our transport crawler, we have decided to carry out the mission as “pro bono”, a.k.a. cost free. As the Bavarian Pickers have carried out the recovery as nonprofit, we wanted to act the same.

On first sight the vehicle looks a bit wretched, still it will be exhibited at some car shows to present its history and recovery. According to some specialists the coach could even be rebuilt especially as almost all aluminium parts and bumpers are present and in good shape. The rusted sheet metal and the rotten wood can be exchanged easily. As the undercarriage of trucks and coach were identical at these times, spare parts could be found with managable efforts.

The Bavarian Pickers

Usually they recover VW busses of the T1 and T2 type. They are known for their surprising discoveries in Germany. Vintage car magazines and TV have had reports about their sudatory hobby. Their focus is to salvage the wrecks as gentle as possible, as over the years out in the open the vehicles have become very instable.

The Pickers came together in 2014 and are driven by pure idealism. They want to rescue as much vehicles as possible, to keep them from total loss and preserve them for the posterity. They derive their rewards from the gleaming eyes of the beholders. Their opinion is that not only fully renovated and gleaming cars , but the natural finish of the contemporary witnesses have their own attraction.

Tino Ertel and Thomas Turnwald are both born and reside in the Oberpfalz in Northern Bavaria. They both have their own vintage car shops.

The coach

The undercarriage Type O 3500 of Mercedes-Benz is married to a body from Kässbohrer. This variant only was build in the year of 1951. The recovered bus is one of only very few known examples. The present object was used as a public transit bus in the 50th and 60th. After it was put out of service a teacher and beemaster of Mendorferbuch/Oberpfalz bought it. He moved it far into the forest as a beehouse. After he passed away the buyer ot the piece of land accidently found the coach in the woods. After contacting the Bavarian Pickers they quickly agreed that the bus has had to be retrieved and be exhibited to the public. As the recovery was very challenging technically they contacted the specialists for cross country heavyload transports of ATG ACROSS THE GROUND.

The coach will now be given a set of new rims and tires to be movable and except to this will be kept in its present condition. At the beginning of December 2018 in Nuremberg/Germany and in March 2019 in Stuttgart/Germany it will be shown at the Retro Classics fairs.

We get started !!!

Well, it took a while, but it is a beautiful machine – our first transport crawler, that was build purposely as a compact cross country transport device.

Besides that we have got the necessary periphery. Transport truck, container, mobile fuel station and tools. And we have a full set of protective pads that we use on the steel tracks on delicate ground . They are even casted in our company colour! They were produced by our partner Felasto-Pur in Beverstedt/Germany.

Our four axle truck is an ex-firebrigade vehicle from Duisburg/Germany. It is a real eye-catcher! The truck looks impressive, especially after our friends from Feit Oberflächentechnik in Aufenau/Germany have had it in their hands! They even discarded our colour scheme in favor of their own ideas – and right they were! We have got a lot of compliments for the truck.

On our transport plattform not only the fixtures for the tracked crawler are in place but the container, that has been redesigned to our needs, has its own brackets.

So we can get started!

And the first job will be VERY interesting!

All she wears are shoes…

This is the text of a typical German drinking song! Well our transport crawler TC30 does not wear shoes at all! But we have been shopping and found an alternative to a pair of highheels in the right green colour!

The track cushions are made of PU bei Felasto-Pur in Beverstedt/Germany. We paid the company a visit after BAUMA 2016. Mr. Riesenbeck gave us an interesting tour through the production facilities. We were impressed! Not only cushions in all variants, sizes and colours are being produced, but fenders for ships and harbour walls as well. They are of impressing size!

Our company colour was not easy to mix, but thanks to the expertise in Beverstedt we will get the exact colour for our little power crawler. We will have pictures posted as soon as they are mounted!
